The Glow Getter's PSA to the Beauty Industry
It’s time we all play our role in broadening our societies view of what beauty stands for!
While I was waiting for my adorable little girl to sleep I came across a link to the Stylist Magazine article about the misrepresentation of image via the media.
It’s not the first time that it’s crossed my mind on how the age of social media has ‘defined’ the image of beauty to a narrow path of filtered smooth perfect skin, and I can remember a time before social media existed! My daughter will grow up surrounded by social media and I worry about how that will impact her and her generation’s mental health.
I think it’s important for us all to do our part in changing the way the younger generation see beauty. We should encourage others, not be afraid to show our flaws and have open and real conversations about reality vs Instagram. In turn, this will better our mental health and glowing health = glowing skin.
The images attached to this post are post facial, 0% makeup, 100% bare skin. I suffer from hyperpigmentation and rosacea, and trust me, there are days you can definitely tell. And I will embrace my skin, flaws and all (and you should too!).
I advocate ‘conscious beauty’ empowering women with knowledge, in turn promoting the beauty industry to become more mindful and redefine what the industry stands for! Drop me a line via stephanie.abri@icloud.com with your skin story or tag me in your bare faced photos @theconsciousglow.
